hmm... a bit cryptic...

Example?

	<file name="THEMEDIR/css/_light/index_light.css">

_light replace $context['theme_variant']

replace all variants of all themes

Ohh... okay.
I don't think it's possible. And I feel it would be better not to change these files, but just provide and load a separated file.
