Meta Tags

Hi, how to I edit meta tags in ElkArte? I want to add a description and keywords to my forum for indexing. Also, I can't seem to find an option that will let me change my forum's name. Where do I find that?

Why the heck do we have a setting to edit the meta tag keywords?
It's a waste of space...

The description is automatically generated according to the content of the page, that should be enough in most if not all of the cases I think. ;)

And any of them is relevant (maybe bing or yandex in certain areas are) or does use keywords meta tag?

QuoteThe consensus across the SEO industry by industry experts, armed with the information above from Google, Yahoo and Bing, is that you can use “keyword” meta tags with caution. The use of these tags have a high chance of negative ranking impacts if you are seen as overstuffing.

QuoteBaidu Recommends:
    Do not stuff keywords

http://help.yandex.com/webmaster/controlling-robot/html.xml
Quote<meta name="Keywords" content="..."/> — may be taken into account when the robot determines if a page matches a search query;

So, from what I can gather, only yandex may use keywords, while bing (and maybe others) use the meta keywords mainly to catch and penalize spammers rather than to gain any meaningful info from it.

What would you risk?
Not lose anything from not using it, or risk of being marked as spam by most of them to maybe please one? (That has apparently less than 0.5% usage share, but of course these data may not be so accurate.)

People seem to aggressively dislike meta tags :/

I'm not disliking meta tags in general.
I know description is useful.
I just don't see nowadays any reason to have the keywords meta tag. Unless used for other that search engines. ;)
And if I may sound aggressive... well, not my intention.

I have always looked at it as it doesn't hurt to have more SEO than less.
