Often it is rational not to quote the whole post (especially if it is very long) but only single lines or a short passage.
But it seems that is not possible by the quoting function, is it? So, in the draft I have to delete the passages that I don't need. That is not very convenial.
In other forums I've seen the ability to mark simply the text passage that is needed to quote and then only this passage will be quoted.
Does this function exist in ElkArte (and I didn't find it) or is it planned for a version in the future?

This doesn't exists into Elkarte core, but there is an add-on that does exactly waht you are asking. I am also using it on my forum and does the jos ;)
