Title: ElkArte Importer
Post by: James on July 10, 2016, 02:16:19 am
Hi,

My first post here.

Is the SMF to ElkArte importer one way? If not, it seems to me that offering a possible way out would encourage many more pople to try out ElkArte. The fear of it being an irreversable action would put off many (it does me). Maybe it does already operate both ways - I certainly hope so.

Jimmy.

Hi James and welcome.

It is indeed the goal of OpenImporter to convert to and from different platforms, but it's still not the case (it is not something that easy to achieve). :)

I'll take that as a 'no' then! :)

I have to say, it is rather impressive what you have achieved here.

Isn't the importer supposed to copy data so that the SMF installation remains intact?

Yep, though you can't run Elk for a while and then decide to go back without losing what you have done in the "while".
