I've ported my own Google Sitemap generator to Elkarte

https://github.com/Vekseid/ElkMapGen

This is a lot more involved than kode54's, as the idea was to grab all publicly visible pages - now closing in on 200,000 - and let Google know, with page weight recommendations based on the importance/transience of the boards, whether topics were sticky, etc.

The main drawback is that this doesn't really work with pretty urls.

That is very cool !

I like how you set up the weights based on the boards etc.   Might be fun to use that code as a base and write a little wrapper to generate the "config", so to speak.

With the fastcgi exit function getting called on scheduled tasks, there's no particular reason not to straight up integrate this into the core code. It's just quite a few settings.
