The ElkArte Community is pleased to announce the second
ElkArte 1.1 Release Candidate (https://github.com/elkarte/Elkarte/releases/tag/v1.1.0-RC.2) is now available. The release candidate is usually the last development step before release a stable version, made available to allow a final round of testing on what will be the first major version of ElkArte, though it's still considered a development version and as such is not recommended for production use.
In order to help us release ElkArte, anyone using the new version, is encouraged to report bugs, issues or errors at our GitHub Issue Tracker (https://github.com/elkarte/Elkarte/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+milestone%3A%221.1+Final%22).
If you don't want to register at github to report bugs through the formal bug reporting system, you can create a new topic at ElkArte.net (http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?board=2.0) and let us know about the problem you encountered or the improvement you would like to see in ElkArte.
We look forward to receiving your feedback on this release candidate of ElkArte!
Some instruction
- Upgrading from 1.0: in this case, overwrite all the files with those in the package of the release, run install/upgrade.php and enjoy the new version.
- Updating from previous 1.1 versions: unzip the package, overwrite all the files of your testing forum with the new ones, delete the install directory, and enjoy the new version.
BTW: all the announcements are still pending. :P
Yeah RC2 !!!
What do you mean?
Emails, news in the header, etc.
All that stuff. O:-)
Updated the news fader :D ... I'd refresh the site but I'm traveling for the next few days.
I think you missed the powered by version in the footer but that just a minor one.
Safe journey
@Spuds.
Awesome! I'll give this a spin later and report any bugs on the GitHub page :)
Nope, it's just that I still have up upgrade the site. :P
BTW: I forgot to say that the most important thing to test now is the upgrade. O:-)
Lol...
I am testing the upgrade from 1.0.10 to 1.1RC2 but installation seems stuck at database upgrade level. Also, upgrade page background is just plain white (for header and footer as well)?
My bad. I forgot to fix the path before proceedings. It seems working now.
/me likes this
Can it be upgraded using softaculous?
Way to go! Thanks again everyone who has invested their time and expertise into the best forum platform out there. Also thanks for being responsive to bug squishing, issues, ideas, and questions!! ;) You guys rock! 8)
Honestly I don't know... I'm not familiar with how it works.
At the moment, anyway, it's not yet "stable", so I don't think softaculous has it in their list of install.
Is there some kind of changelog, with a short description of what’s new in version 1.1 compared to 1.0?
Hi igor and welcome. :)
I thought there was, but I was wrong... :-\
Off the top of my head in a more or less random manner:
... okay, it's so long I'm using 1.1 that I don't remember any more. xD
The "front-facing" that I remember are: inline attachments, desktop notifications, more granular control over notifications methods, use of SVG instead of FA. A more recent version of the editor. Likely other things, but I don't remember... :-\
On the backend... quite a bit of stuff changed, but I guess it's not really that interesting.
This is so generic I love it :P
Thank you for the quick answer!
I guess for you it’s the other way round. ;-)
O:-)
Incidentally, the other day I came across https://skywinder.github.io/github-changelog-generator/ In lieu of a smaller changelog, maybe
the big one (https://github.com/elkarte/Elkarte/compare/v1.0.10...v1.1.0-RC.2)? :P
Interesting.
By a quick look it requires just proper labelling of issues and pull requests, it could very well be an interesting tool. nods
What I did in the past (now it's already a couple of releases I forget) was to create:
http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=3437.0
via git command. It's not difficult, the only annoying part is I had to go back and find the theme and enhancement commits.
