Title: Does ElkArte require FTP?
Post by: TaliaJoy on January 07, 2020, 10:47:24 pm
It seems like last time I installed ElkArte publicly, I needed to use FTP and could not use SSH or SFTP. Is this inherent to ElkArte?

That's a matter of server configuration. If you have SSH access, you should be able to do it by command line only. Enter the desired install directory, wget (or equivalent) the elk zip file, unzip it, access the install.php by command line or in your browser

I haven't used FTP in a long time, for ElkAarte I just use the file manager in Cpanel to upload and unzip.
