Title: [REQUEST] CKEditor
Post by: Ant59 on June 30, 2014, 11:48:44 am
Just leaving this here as an idea if anyone wants to pick it up.

IPB uses CKEditor as a WYSIWYG editor in their software. Turns out it's fully open source and could be a great addon for Elkarte.

IMO, the current one we are using here is much lighter and much better. CKEditor has a lot of bloat IMO.

This is the one Elk is using:

I've never looked into either, but I think you're right, SCEditor does look at lot less bloated.

Without having Elk's JS hooked up on my theme, I didn't even know a WYSIWYG appeared lol.

Well, SCEditor is a bit heavy on the CPU, especially for old computers (like the one I'm currently writing from, an atom N450).
From an IPB website, CKE seems a bit more cheap.

SCEditor also loads quite slow on phones and operates fairly slowly too.

Never had a problem with the editor on my phone or tablet.

Why not TinyMCE (http://www.tinymce.com/tryit/basic.php)?
