Is SMF copying Elk's code

Let us say since SMF 2.1 wants to be what ElkArte already is, is there any code adoptation on 2.1 releases that's created by Elk developers ?

SMF can if it wants to. That's that the point of open source. I don't think anything has been used in SMF 2.1 though.

Let's al remember that Elk is based on SMF 2.1, so the two project share some code.
Elk used in the past code from 2.1 fixes and SMF used code from Elk fixes.
Recently (last couple of years) the exchange has mostly stopped. As far as I remember the last time SMF used code from Elk was for a fix @Spuds made and live627 ported over to SMF (I don't remember the details).

Honestly, I remember when the change in license was discussed over at SMF, one of the reasons was so that they could import an innovation from a fork (with an open license) if it was a good feature. I don't see the problem.
