[Request] Recent posts -> recent topics?

I used a small SMF modification which changed the list of recent posts in the info center to a list of recent topics. I also edited the theme to show this list on top of the board. This is much more useful in my opinion. Is anyone out there who can write a little addon which:

1. changes posts to topics in this list?
2. makes it possible to show this list not in the info center at the bottom of the board, but at the top right between the newsflash and the first category?
