Title: Post in the name of another user?
Post by: Jorin on December 18, 2017, 07:33:33 am
It seems I need to wirte a post for another user. Can I change the user ID in the database for this post to change the author?

I did it with SMF and also with Elkarte, if I'm not wrong you need to change the user id and also the username

What about his post count? And mine? His should be +1 and mine -1 then.

Another option: have the member create a placeholder post, such as "reserved", then go back and edit it. ;)

I just checked, the fields I edited are: id_member, poster_name and poster_email

I know many will find this useless, but I need to do this because a moderator of my forum created some step by step tutorials in MS Word and he had no time to publish them on forum. So I made the topics, then I changed the author.

That's kind of similar to my situation.  :D
