Double Forum

I have intention to have parallel forum threads for members and guests i.e. registered and unregistered visitors as room for motivation to hear some talk from outsiders, because is sensitive matter on certain debates on this new forum ... here is the initial talk that lead to this new topic
Quote from: omBre – I am thinking also how to open room for guests but in parallel thread to the main, that would ease the pain of registering for those that want to jump in but dont have will to stick around, which would be ideal also as testing ground for new members to prove themselves that are not ordinary spammers, having also ability to quote but not to like/dislike posts, only question is how such parallel forum threads will make the forum code heavy and slow ...

So is it possible this to be done like plugin, just as separet replica of the primary code but in popout screen that will make two rows of the board, one for members and one for guests ... finally it could be more like chat room as side window but without the quote option ...

Thanks

Let me ser if I understood correctly.
You would like to have a board where both registered users and guests could post in, but where you could  (visually) "separate" the topics/posts from guests and from registered users?

Yes row to row, it would be other way to substiute the hide/unhide likes as public moderation tool that I was talking about earlier

https://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=1013.msg35001#msg35001

it would be even more democratic way to hear all the voices that want to participate, altho the hide/unhide likes as moderation it would ease all the pain for administrative moderation which will chop of big chanks of the debate just because some digressions or missleading talk which eventualy is needed but its hard to follow...

What do you mean exactly?

I don't get it from the start but I think he meant a board where both can post. May be he meant to highlight all the posts started by guests and may be to sort them as well, if needed, in Message Index. Something like HighLight Buddy Message addon but in Message Index instead.

I however think perhaps he can simply add a sub board to that board where only guest can post instead of messing things around.

Thanks Ahrasis thats good idea with the guest sub-board, still it would be painfull for following, at least for those that dont have patience ... sure it would be ideal if there is like/dislike option through which members themselves will hide/unhide all the posts ....

Emanuele I am talking for side by side forums i.e. column to column, left and right, something like parallel forum on same page where  eventually later could be filtered good posts, with option as such to be integrated in the member area threads ...

I dont know if this is appliable here, but could this idea to have gui child clone of the topic for guests, to be extracted from other codes than wrighting it as new ...

also some kind of addon will make the things better so admins could quickly make clone from old topics, instead having double forum as whole at first, tho I'll be happy with any ...

maybe it would be easier to have two separate forums on same database
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=16190.0

after to join them somehow through tidy-childboard
https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=555096.0

in this way the code will stay intact, the main board index also, and just in the threads there would be pullout button to open the cloned topic in the second/guest forum, in which will go parallel talk without registration ... this second forum normally it would be hidden as separate but only invoked through the main forum board ...

is this better, or there is simple way?

We got Sub Forums by @Feline (PortaMX) ported from SMF to ElkArte and now named Multi Tenancy. I have upgraded it to suite ElkArte version 1.1 and above but it is still beta though.

thats ok, but I'll need side by side grid, made of, topic for members and same topic for guest, both on same page but the one for guests to be hidable, something like parallel live chat where guests and members could rage their unpopular ideas, so they would not disturb the debate in the main thread ... in the end this forum clone it will be just frustration bin, where also the uncovinient member posts will end up, yet filtered instead deleted, we all know how painfull it is when after one hour wrighting some moderator will trash ur post in abyss coz one or two digresions ...

here is an two column SMF layout

https://www.simplemachines.org/community/index.php?topic=359124.0

but this is just layout, and I am looking for separate identical board for guests, which will be evoked through button that will make two theme layout for the same topic, an live chat column if could be said for every different topic ...
