Deleting a topic to the hidden trash forum, then moderating it to hidden, then moving it out of the trash to a public forum, then deleting individual posts from it, results in those posts being permanently deleted from the forum, rather than being deleted back to the trash forum.

With moderating it to hidden you mean you are using "post moderation" and the topic was set to unapproved while being in the recycle board?
Looks like an issue with the restoring function not properly reassigning some id to something.
No, I mean the topic was manually moved out of the recycle board to a read-only but visible forum, after it was unapproved to hide it. It wasn't "restored" by the normal means.
