Title: Make ElkArte forums private.
Post by: pdp-7 on May 15, 2019, 06:18:30 pm
Just got fresh install and was going through settings and such but didn't find anywhere how to make everything private. Private so that one need to login to see something else but login form. No boards no content before user logs in.

Is this possible from the settings or do this need to be done by other means?

Otherwise all is fine and dandy!

Thanks!

I think you can set that in board settings.

Found it!

Administration Center -> Features and Options -> General

Allow guests to browse the forum

Don't know how I missed it!

Need sleep .. maybe :P

Oh. One more thing have to ask, since with search found only couple years old thread about the crawlers and such ..

If whole forum is not accessible by guests are crawlers automatically stopped from snooping around?

Crawlers will have access to what guests have.
The fact the forum is not accessible will not stop them to try to access it. That's totally out of the control of the software.

Thanks for the answer @emanuele !

I thought it would be like that, but one is better off when asks. I don't mind dem bugs scratching the front door.
