Skype Privacy Settings

Hello! It is me again, sorry for being a pest with all my questions, lol.

I have enabled the Skype profile field, letting my users submit their Skype information. However, I am in need of advise in regard to the settings:

Home > Administration Center > Features and Options > Profile Fields

Going there, and Modifying the Skype profile field, I am presented with these Privacy options:

- Users can see this field; owner can edit it
- Users can see this field; only admins can edit it
- Users cannot see this field; owner and admins can edit it
- This field is only visible to admins

Now, check the attachment. When logged out from the forum, i.e. looking at the public view of the forum, my users have their Skype info plainly accessible to the public! When clicking that Skype icon, it connects directly to the user.

The option I used when I took this picture was the top one.

- Users can see this field; owner can edit it

But that is not exactly accurate, is it? Non-users, guest visitors can see this field! To protect the privacy of my users, I have instead picked:

- Users cannot see this field; owner and admins can edit it

Problem is that my registered users can't access each others' Skype information, which was kind of the point, lol. Now, I will have to try and list the Skype info on a secure sub-forum that only have member access, and that is not ideal, is it? :)

Can anyone help me with this? I need my users to feel safe submitting their usernames on Skype with the rest of the community without it becoming public knowledge. Ideally, I would like for this field to have assigned member group access. That way, people who just register won't have access either, but only when they are assigned to such a member group that has access to Skype info.

Best,

Auctor Lucan

So it only shows up in the memberlist (but is properly hidden in the other views?)

My memberlist is not visible to guests, it is shown in user profile, attached a screenshot made in incognito mode, if you click to facebook icon it will bring you to the user profile on facebook.

I don't have any good solution at the moment apart from hide any custom field from guests.

Probably better to do that then leave those fields "exposed" so to speak ...

That will likely hide the website as well?
Don't remember.
And to me if it is hidden it's not a big issue as well.

And to help a layman, how do I hide the custom fields for my guest visitors? :)

Or will this be done with the next version?
