Stack Overflow Sold

This came across today

Stack Overflow Sold to Tech Giant Prosus for $1.8 Billion

Hope Jeff Atwood held onto some ownership so he could cash in a second time LOL.  I always find it interesting that sites whos content/knowledge is provided, for free, by others gets to cash in.  Do you think the largest contributors will get a chunk of money as well, yeah no.  Really the folks who did the SEO on that baby should get the money, its hard to type in any programming question without that site at the top.

Allegedly there are “61 newly minted millionaires” according to St Atwood (I have no love for the man whatsoever) and I cannot imagine he will skip a payday from this.

I do not believe this bodes well however because the new owners will want to make that money back with a profit and SO does make money but I don’t think it’ll quickly pay off $1.8bn...

nods .... It will be interesting to see how it evolves over time and how the community / competitors respond.
