Title: Message buttons (i.e. quote & C)
Post by: emanuele on June 10, 2013, 09:35:51 am
I was wondering: ...why not subdivide them in a sort of meaningful way?

I mean:
answer
    |-- quote
    |-- quote to new
    |-- like
quick edit
moderate
    |-- modify
    |-- approve/unapprove
    |-- split
    |-- remove
    |-- report

Otherwise "more" is prone to become *huge
and with a mixed number of things in there...

Yebbut as long as the most used ones are top level clicky for convenience, and the rarely used ones are out of the way (IMO).

Yes, well they almost are already... Ah, I'll update the site.

Quote    |-- like

This one, separate and always visible. Chasing for 'like' in a menu seems to defeat the purpose of easy (immediate) to use.

Yes that makes sense, for fans of like buttons (ie: not me). OTOH, although quote to new topic is a nifty idea, I'm trying to think of more than ten cases where I would have found it really useful over the last five years. It's the sort of thing that might be handy sometimes, but IMO isn't worth extra clutter all the time.

ETA: Oh one thing I noticed you guys have done is to hide the personal messaging option in the poster area. That one was really popular when I introduced it at CEMB. The punters loved it, so I'd be inclined to reappear that one.
