Title: Sound notification for alerts

How about using a sound effect for new alerts as in FB chat ? Of course, only if it is real time.

Since it's not real time I think this idea is best served as a mod or a feature request for a mod that does real-time polling of the messages.

I was told that in 1.1 the notifications will be better. It is not real time then ? Requires a tab refresh ?

Notifications in1.1 are probed every so often (I think I put 10 seconds, dunno exactly).
The users may even chose to receive desktop notifications.
I would say if you want a sound, tweak the OS to sound when a desktop notification is received, don't bother the webapp.
IMHO. (Yes, I'm playing passing the buck here because I don't want to add yet another option that I would be pissed about[1] :P)
1 In other terms I don't want my browser to play, so I'd need an option to turn it off, and that means adding yet another option to Elk that I don't want to.↵

I think its 10seconds as well at the moment ... I feel we should slow that down a bit though .... maybe 20 seconds?

Considering Facebook delays notifications even for more than an hour at times, 20 seconds would be very much into the "ok" zone. ;D

Internet will die... actually, it may came back to be an interesting place.
Unfortunately, I doubt FB will disappear any time soon, FB is for social networks what google has been for search engines, we will see it for a looooooooooong time.

And that reminds me I still have to code the "ignore notifications" thingy for 1.1. O:-)
