Anti-spam features

  • Bad Behavior

Spuds said he wants Bad Behavior built-in.1

The approach of BB is interesting, and has results as far as I know.

License: It's LGPL (I know someone who's not happy with the ending letters...); it appears it can be integrated as external library, not modified at all, which is good and it is of course the intention of the author anyway. (LGPL is meant for libraries). It can be used as v2 of the license (not "and up"), another bit that matters to some of us.

  • Checks on external spammers databases?

For example HoneyPot. This, if acceptable, has also to be very loosely coupled, allowing us to include/exclude it from a distribution, and allowing people to disable it, methinks...

There may be code (registration) reworking necessary or welcome, for these.

Did I hear bbc tags? That reminds me of Decoda integration.

Slightly odd topic but how library like are the BBCode parsers? Could they be dragged out and used simply
Or do they use SMF style functions?

There are quite a few specific SMF implementations of tags that need to be addressed, so once you get past the basic formatting tags things get a bit more complicated (quote, list, table and code come to mind), and then we have a couple of turd tags like glow and move, and probably a dozen or so other very low use tags that are supported.

It's not that we'd have to support *everything*...

emanuele hates glow, shadow, and a dozen of other BBCs. O:)

I love the marquee tag but could happily lose the others (and we could do marquee with css3 these days anyway).

Antechinus is going to make a css3 marquee tag.
Antechinus is also going to make css3 bouncing parrots! :D

emanuele hopes Antechinus will make the bouncing parrots BBCode configurable (i.e. speed, bouncing rate, width, height, etc.) so that he can put a bunch in his signature bouncing all over the places! :D

ETA:
emanuele should stop using the /me bbcode because he is starting using it in RL too! :o

Totally off topic:
By the way, can we pretty please find another color for /me? It's damn annoying to use many of them when they're all red... Emotes are not supposed to be 'warning!warning!aleeert!' to the eye.

Please don't ask me which. Y'know. Something that doesn't strike...
The best moment for testing your PR is right after you merge it. Can't miss with that one.
