How similar is Data_Validator to GUMP?

Dunno, but when I saw this thread title in the recent posts list, I scanned it as Darth Validator.

Brain fart. :D

That's a question for Spuds. :P
By looking at the code, I'd say they are similar for sure. In Elk there isn't the part about HTML. I'd have to check more in details.

Looks nice, I'd say its far more complete for types of checks as well.  It has the typical validation flow/syntax that you see in most validation classes, better method exposure as well.

The one in elk is more tied in to elk than stand alone, makes use of util:: functions and has forum specific crud like  ip / ip6, php syntax, email, url, colors, and hideous recursion for passed arrays from checkbox forms and allows addons to extend it somewhat.

Anyway it might be a nice replacement to consider as the one we have now has some quirks that I don't really like and that maybe the ticket should someone want to give it a run.
