I think it's kinda weird to set the default theme to default. This causes confusion when try to explain to a new user things like don't edit your default theme, etc etc. Consider renaming it to "Master Theme" or some other term rather than default.
Master theme would be sexist and not politically correct. It would be better to rename it to "Domineering person of no particular gender theme".
Name the theme "Moose" or something?
Actually I have an idea. I rather like the idea of calling it Zorion. It's a Basque name that means "happiness", and it's used for both males and females.
Why not [Kooky theme name] (Elkarte Default Theme)?
Stop making sense.
I'm not talking about giving the theme a personal name, I meant something that represents a "Master Copy", or "Foundation Theme", "Cornerstone", "Standard Theme", "Base Theme", "Main Theme", "Primary Theme", "Essential Theme", "Parent Theme", or whatever. This is so user's can tell the difference between a setting a theme to the default theme, and the default theme itself.
Example support questions/statements:
"Set your Default Theme to default, and see if your still having the same issues."
"Set your Master Theme to default, and see if your still having the same issues."
"Do you have the same problem in your Default Theme?"
"Do you have the same problem in your Master Theme?"
"You shouldn't edit your Default Theme, but instead make another and customize it the way you want it".
"You shouldn't edit your Master Theme, but instead make another and customize it the way you want it".
Especially if English is not the user's first language, there may be misunderstanding. I see this all the time at SMF.
After some thinking, "Primary Theme" may be the best term. All other themes are secondary themes, as in most cases they reply on the primary theme to be complete and functional anyway. Or you could go full retard and use "Bull Theme" and "Calf Themes". :P
perhaps "Core Theme"?
Yes, sometimes it seems tricky to explain that you set 'the default as default'. There are two meanings of the word. But, I doubt any other option is really better. People are very used to it either way, and I can see instead "so core is the default theme in Elk?". ;D
Question: how does other software name it? As far as I can remember, only 'default' theme.
Hey I know I know! Why don't we call it......................................
..........radical stuffz coming up........................
............take a deep breath and hold onto your hatz........................
................"Elkarte theme". :)
Set the Elkarte theme to default!!! QUICK!!!
K, sinxce I needed some variant naming sanity for Teh Grand Plan
TM, what I have done on local, and what will be in me next Evil CodeDump
also TM n stuff is this:
// This is used for the color variants
$settings['theme_variants'] = array('light', 'dark', 'basic', 'blue', 'red', 'green');
..and this:
$txt['variant_light'] = 'ElkArte Light';
$txt['variant_dark'] = 'ElkArte Dark';
$txt['variant_basic'] = 'ElkArte Basic';
$txt['variant_red'] = 'Red Sector';
$txt['variant_green'] = 'Green Style';
$txt['variant_blue'] = 'Blue Sky';
..with suitable placeholder image folders and CSS files. Methinks this is good naming. I can just see the support board.
"Which theme are you using?"
"Ummm, it's the Elkarte theme. You know, the sort of white and green one that comes with the forum."
:D
ETA: I'd suggest this:
Line 49: $txt['default_theme_name'] = 'ELKARTE Default Theme - Minimalist';
Be changed to this:
Line 49: $txt['default_theme_name'] = 'ElkArte Theme';
Now
YOU stop making sense!
Actually... what's the name of the theme?
Wombat :P
