Why do you do that? :<
ehh...
/me blames
@Spuds for all the bugs he is finding. :P
Most of them were just small tweaks (for example the colons moved to the string instead of the template), yeah, annoying... :(
Repeatedly breaking git. :-\
Just wait till I really start looking :P ... OK I'm really just making them bugs so I can make some of the addon's easier to code :D
Not sure what that means, for me I have not had a repo issue in a long time (probably jinked myself now)
Sure, it can be my fault. :) Just found some HEAD marks in some language files, caused by too many changes.
At least I finished the German translation now (you can pull it, it's complete, except the occasionally needed updates).
(I hope I haven't missed a string.)
Great!
I'll push that to transifex as soon as I get a moment, so we can easily see if there is anything missing. ;)
Now I'm afraid...
Unfortunately I can't write bug that way... :(
If you do that: please push it to the "German (Germany)" tree..
The "German" tree contains my (and Jorin's) "informal" version, the one from forumsearchor2 is a formal one..
Okay.
Of course, if you want to take care of it feel free! ;D
/me always tries to delegate. :P
Based on mine, I hope. Just to not have done too much. :o
Nope, they're based on the informal version for SMF 2.0 from smfportal.de. So it's basically the old SMF language pack with just the new ElkArte strings..that's one of those big benefits using transifex.
https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/elkarte/
What the ... (word censorship?!). Then why did I actually do a complete translation on my own?
OTOH, it's really "original work" now. Mine is better!
And you also helped improve the English language version as well :D
Don't know that, you could have read the "transifex for translations" topic for example... Keep in mind: Jorin offered their help but you decided to start the translation without contacting me or him....

Not sure why you ignored my comment ::) ... I still think GIT (especially the main ElkArte repo) isn't the proper tool for translations.
Your's is a bit special here and there (e.g. Befugnisse vs. Berechtigungen for "permissions") but TBH, I'm not up for the "mine is better" comparison.. They're different, that's it. One can decide which one they like..
TBH, I'd probably rework all existing translations anyway. I like a higher-class wording some time. :) - The advantage of git translations is that I can make string changes in the code itself while allowing you to see how they relate to my translations.
I love git and I would love to find an "easy" way to use it for translations... actually, now that each language has its own directory, it may be possible to use sub-modules to achieve that.
Okay, bit of explanation: sub-modules are just "repositories inside another repository".
Let me try to use an example.
This is the current ElkArte repository:
/elkarte
|- sources
|- themes
|- default
|- css
|- scripts
|- languages
|- english
|- Packages
etc.
One big repository where everything is tracked at once.
With sub-modules, it would be:
repo 1:
/elkarte
|- sources
|- themes
|- default
|- css
|- scripts
|- languages
|- link-to-Elk-english
|- Packages
etc.
repo 2:
/Elk-english
|- all the language files
So, two different repositories where the English dir in the "main" elkarte repo is just a "link" to another repo (actually is a bit more complex than this, but let's summarize it like that).
From a development point of view the difference would be that we'd have to deal with two separated repositories, so adding a new language string would mean: a commit to the elk-repo where the string is used, and a commit to the elk-english repo where the string is stored.
That's a possibility.
If you are curious I can set up a demo repo to see how it could work.
Wouldn't it be possible to just set the /languages folder as an external repository?
Did I say english? Okay, well, you know... O:-)
Yep, languages. lol
Nah, the whole languages directory.
ok, uploaded
@forumsearch0r s translation to transifex.
https://www.transifex.com/organization/elkarte/dashboard/all_resources/de_DE/
due to the recent changes there are still some untranslated strings..
Definitely a reason to finally "freeze" language changes for 1.0 ..
It's about time for that. Every time I submit an update, it's already deprecated.
OK, I'll continue on git...
Why all lang files - Polish, Italian etc. have *.english.php at the end?
German lang files don't.
If I got it right, it's a limitation of transifex: the files are generated with the same name, though it's possible to download the with their client in the proper format (see
TE's topic (http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=1459.0)).
Once the a translation is "ready" it can be downloaded and distributed.
It's due to the original name..
You can use the transifex client (as
@emanuele45 mentioned) for download.. Then you'll get a prober folder structure + the correct names..
I'll setup the server with the transifex client, soon.. then we'll have a nightly build of our languages files, just a little bit patience please..
Downloaded this client for Windows, but it seems that I need to type something in cmd... It's not for me. I'm going to wait for server ::)
Here we are:
http://translations.elkarte.net/
WOW! :D
I love how you use the term of "building" for packing php files. :D
;D
yeah, it's not a true build, just a simple
tx pull
+ zip based on a cron Job.
So where should I commit future translations?
I'd personally favour transifex.. I've uploaded your translations to the German (Germany) language section, the related nighlty created ZIP is german-formal.zip.
The Transifex link above didn't work.
Does this one work for you?
https://www.transifex.com/organization/elkarte/dashboard
Looks like the word censor has gone nuts :P
please check this one, it's a small german "guide" for using transifex (the web gui):

git is easier. :-\
Guess I'll stay with it.
Uhh what? "tx push" and "git push" is allmost the same, just the params are different..
http://support.transifex.com/customer/portal/articles/996211-pushing-new-translations
But I can't access the code in tx!
