News doesn't fade?

I have an issue with my site where the news will only switch "items" if you visit several different pages, instead of fading between them every few seconds. Is this intentional or at least configurable?

It can be configured in the admin control panel. Visit ->Configuration ->Actual theme (or so, I am using a translation at my board).
