I didn't set an avatar, and while I have a default in the post view, there's just a lonely sad broken-icon next to my name at the top of the page.

Added it so it should at least show up now ... up next up to actually fix it :)

Also... the small default avatar is still linking to http://www.elkarte.net/avatars//default_avatar.png (shouldn't be the extra / in there) while the main default avatar points to http://www.elkarte.net/themes/default/images/default_avatar.png

Thanks ... should be fixed in a pending PR ... which means it will be on the site "soon"
