I noticed this as I normally press the new posts to read all i.e including replies. But now I have to check for replies in its own page.
I am not sure everybody like this but it is a good improvement. I just couldn't see the number on the menu button on this site, if there is new posts or replies. (Even notification, I think.)
I'd suggest why don't everybody test this and report in here?
I'm not sure what you mean with "finally separated".
As far as I remember (but the warning I wrote in the other message still applies) the two buttons have been there since "forever" and the behaviour is still the same.
/me needs a lot of coffee, but the program of the day starts with a refreshments and a lunch (likely big and fat)
/me is already tired xD
This morning, I was checking the site for new posts and it is empty. I even click its button 2-3 times. But then when I click new replies, there were 3 replies. So the post is about it.
Just now, surprisingly, the behaviour is like before.
/me is now confused.
/me also may need some coffee.
No clues. xD
Coffee is love. Coffee is life.
That behavior in the new posts section is supposed to reduce the load on the server by limiting the amount of posts shown. The new message threshold is updated for a new session only if said threshold was updated over five hours ago.
Has been inherited from SMF and has been like this for many years.
Probably because said threads have been updated with new messages.
:-[ :-[ :-[ This is happening again. Now.
That's happening here as well.
Sorry for the tangent - what is the purpose of having two different pages for unread replies and unread topics? Is there an advantage over having a single page for all unread posts? Just curious.
Sorry, but I really don't understand what you are looking at... xD
So, recap.
What do we have?
1) "Recent Posts": http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?action=recent <= this is a list of any recent message posted on the board (that "you" can see) irrespective of the read/unread status. It's accessible from "Community (Home in an unmodified version) > Recent Posts".
2) "New Posts": http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?action=unread <= this is a list of messages posted since "the last time you were online". TBH I'm not entirely sure, but this should show both read and unread topics.
3) "New Replies": http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?action=unreadreplies <= a list of topics that you posted in after the last time you visited the topic.
Those three pages, despite being very similar, have slightly different meanings and functions.
Now, what pages are we talking about? O:-)
http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?action=unread shows No unread topics found since your last visit even if there are new posts. http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?action=unread;all will show the new posts. Hope that makes sense. ;D
It's not a problem but it's happening on unread and unreadreplies (on the menu button).
The answer may already 've been given but I was merely updating because I think when the button is clicked, it should refresh with new unread posts.
