Merge topics without quick moderation?

huh, maybe I'm blind or just to dumb to find it.. How can I merge topics with "quick moderation" disabled?

If "quick moderation" is mandatory for merging topics: Should we make it on (I prefer checkboxes) by default?

The same way you do in SMF: the row of buttons just above the quick reply, "merge topics".

No problem!

Though that means it is not evident enough.

And maybe these buttons can be improved "somehow"... any idea anyone?

Yep, probably to many buttons and places with buttons at all..
- the main menu buttons
- the "reply, add poll..." above and below a topic.
- Quote, quick edit, like etc. inside the message.
- post, preview, save draft for the quick reply.
- the moderation button between the topic replies and the quick buttons..

Maybe a "moderate" button with a drop menu beside the REPLY button?
I suppose some other buttons (MARK UNREAD, DISREGARD, SEND THIS TOPIC, PRINT, NOTIFY) are rarely used and could also be placed inside a dropmenu.
