Sorry if this is in the wrong area. I was browsing boards run on ElkArte the other day and came across this fairly big forum: http://www.foreforum.com/index.php?action=forum
Awesome !!
Nice! :D
Another fairly big one is http://www.b4print.com/
B4Print is probably the largest.
Nice idea! :)
Anyone volunteering keep track of things?
In one year time everyone will be using ElkArte, so you don't need to keep track of these things 8)
LOL
I can
try to help. But start like next month or after that cuz this month I'm busy. :P
Has everybody forgot that we are already in a new year. :D
And everyone is switching to XenForo. Sigh!
Wow, and they use Aeva Media Gallery :o
Ouch!
Interesting, congratz to the one that ported it!
I've been thinking about/planning on moving my major forums (Elliquiy and Blue Moon Roleplaying) to Elkarte.
There are some features I want to get into the codebase first, though.
One down, a dozen to go. -_-
If you feel it's something that may be of general interest feel free to propose them. ;D
Most all of them are. I'm currently running through the codebase to see what you've already done and what remains. Made a minor pull request for one of them as you've seen. Will need to make myself a proper development environment to do much more.
Yo have great stats there : 11,474,581 Posts in 184,366 Topics by 34,021 Members
Congrats!
what happened to this forum? it looks like there is no stylesheet
Looks good here... :o
this is how I see it
Looks fine to me as well .. .did you try an f5 or ctrl f5 to clear your cache for the site?
I see it in the same way as radu, it's not his end.
Well from the picture I'd say the style sheet is not loading for you ... looks like it uses a cdn for that so perhaps that is borked or your simply blocked for some reason.
I also noticed they used a cdn, from tablet is OK, but with chrome there is no way to see it. I also tried ctrl F5, disabled adblock, but nothing.
What radu said ^^
Using a proxy on one vs the other ?
no proxy
Interesting ... comes up fine in chrome for me, so has to be something else, but I had no idea. What happens when you try to follow the stylesheet link?
Lots of bad gateways (502) in the console for their cache. And quite a few other errors as well.
No proxies.
tried at work behind a proxy and is working fine... ;D Mistery
Maybe some kind of blocks, I have a similar thing on my site if you use Tor it works but unstyled, don't ask me why - I'll tell you to go to Vulgar-land ;D
Nice job! :D
Not quite sure what you were referring to with that xD
To a post that has been removed. :P
...oh :/
largest ElkArte-Board is probably http://www.fan-forum.de/smf ;D
It's slightly bigger than b4print.com, although it's mostly an inactive archive :'( It has been converted from SMF 1.1 last weekend (mostly for security reasons). The design is still WIP (customized Be Social! variant)
Looks pretty neat.
Yep, is the largest elkarte board ;) and probably my forum skodaclub is one of the most active elkarte board, I am getting from 4.000 to 6000 post monthly ;D
Awesome !
My small forum was converted to Elkarte. http://studiocrimes.com
Cool!
Welcome to ElkArte than! ;D
Currently converting our forum over to ElkArte. 21.025 users, 29.348 Topics & 1.109.628 Posts
Running an ancient version of SMF 1.0.5 heavily modified which has no importer so making my own. Gonna create a new page design/theme to go with it though so in starting phases :)
Let us know if there is anything we can do to make it easier (besides writing a custom importer).
Wondering if any of the large forums would be willing to install XHProf for a little while so we can get some metrics to improve the performance of ElkArte.
Hi Acido,
are you willing to share more technical Info's about you're Board ? How many concurrent users do you have ?
What hardware are you using ?
I am currently investigating to move my board which is quite large as well.
Thanks
Nifty
@Acido that will surely be the largest board powered by Elkarte, show us your board ;)
Varies, usually around 100+ concurrent. On the hardware side, nothing super special Xeon w3530 (Quadcore) @2.80Ghz 16GB ram Gentoo Linux, mysql, nginx, fpm-php
Sure, it's in Danish though, and as I stated, still running a modified version of SMF 1.0.5 I'm in the process of creating a new page design for which I intend to use ElkArte on the new site when ready. http://fmfreaks.dk/
By the way: Took the importer aprox 3 hours to import all the messages, and everything looks alright so far, there are some minor formating issues on some messages but not the fault of ElkArte.
@Acido Not sure why you are still running 1.0.5, I hope it's not a
real 1.0.5, otherwise it has God-knows-how-many security flaws, but I hope that since you are writing a converter on your own, you were aware of them and did something about it.
Nice looking forum
@Acido
Because it is heavily modified (I have integrated all site functions directly into the SMF codebase) so it was/is a fairly complex deal to update to newer versions. I mostly did security patches without upgrading the whole package. But because of this have been having some compatibility issues with newer PHP versions in recent years as well, so this is one of the reasons I'm seeking to start over, and this time around the plan is to do most of the modifications via hooks so it becomes easier to upgrade the base package in the future, something that wasn't supported on these old SMF versions at the time.
Thanks :)
probably the largest board based on elkarte:
Congrats
@kode54 ;)
Congrats and thanks for picking Elk! :D
Yeah, we're about 200k short of that post count, but we have over 100,000 topics. Of course, some of those may need to be recounted. Would there be a way to make the stats system discount topics that are currently in the recycle bin forum?
I've also had to write several quick fix scripts after importing through SMF 2, such as fixing the timestamps of quote tags to match the posts they reference, and also fixing codebox tags after I forgot to enclose the regex parameter that collected their contents in parentheses so the parameter actually went to the replacement string. And also unsetting the deleted_by_sender value on the entire PM system, since that left many people with empty sent boxes, and the real way the old forum stored that info was to have duplicate PM entries where owner ID was also the from ID, or folder was listed as Sent.
I've also had to import the ban list myself, so I wrote a script for that, it generates IPv4, email, and user ID entries. And I migrated the old user warning levels over as 33/66/100 levels for the new warning system.
And I had to migrate over polls, which were broken by the SMF importer. They really need a proper overhaul, where I'll re-import them into the new system based on the old data, which was stored in a mess of serialized PHP arrays, some of which were apparently either invalid or truncated. I'm waiting on multiple questions and multiple choice before I make a final attempt to import all of the poll data.
The discussion about slow profile page has been moved to http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=3222.0
found another one: https://foxtbirdcougarforums.com/index.php
and also this: https://talkrational.org/index.php which seems to migrate to phpBB, without importing the old data from Elkarte
The simplest / ugliest solution...
