Okay, this is an odd one.
I installed Opera Mini onto my android phone.
Opened my site, and this site.
Menu icons, were not right. They were Chinese characters, instead of what should be.
I know this is more likely an Opera issue, but I wonder if there is something that can be done here, about it.
O_o
Okay, this is one odd... xD
I have no idea what and why is working like that.
It being here too, is why I posted in bugs board. I am guessing Opera is a Chinese product. As it doesn't have any language settings, I feel the fix would have to be from us. I really doubt Opera would help out... LOL
It is working fine with Opera but not Opera Mini. I guess font-awesome is not working on the later very well.
Hmmm.... Very strange, indeed...
I don't have regular Opera on my mobiles.
However, it does bring a thought.
Whatever they removed, to make mini, well, mini, has to be the issue.
Maybe they removed font-awesome support?
It's IMO a bug in Opera Mini or missing webfont support. It's broken on www.fontawesome.io , too.
That's what I figured.
However, I feel we may need to find a fix, as I doubt Opera will. LOL
According to https://github.com/FortAwesome/Font-Awesome/issues?q=is%3Aissue+opera+mini+is%3Aclosed Opera Mini does not support font-face, so it would require the implementation of image replacements for each icon...
It would be better to walk away from the icons in the menu of mobile design. For additional pages, the menu is in the mobile design, overloaded. The important (for me) Button for administrator and moderator is hidden in the mobile design menu (
No admin button in mobile view #2175 (https://github.com/elkarte/Elkarte/issues/2175)) . Also pictures icons for the menu is not an optimal solution. Better would be a "Hamburger" menu for the mobile design.
With SVG in 1.1 this will not apply any more.
