Mini avatar next to tags

I was just browsing around and I saw this topic http://www.elkarte.net/community/index.php?topic=1419.0  and it got me wondering how hard would it be to have a mini avatar one that is displayed in front of a user mention or tag in a post.

For some reason I didn't think it would, but I know nothing about coding and making addons.

I wonder if it might be more useful to just pop up a whole user card, much like IPB and vB do.

Not a bad idea, I was thinking more of a cosmetic look and not actually function.
