One of my crew asked me this: "What if a post gets 30+ likes. Isn't it annoying if the author gets 30+ mentions about this?"
Would it be better if each user can decide wether he wants to get mentions about likes or not? Or is there a chance to write a function which creates a link to mark all mentions read in one step?
Yes, they can.
This is a "first step":

In 1.1 there is a lot to do with mentions. ;D
Sounds good. What about a list of checkboxes to mark mentions (equal to quick moderation at board index) and mark the mentions as read in one go? Could be a quick solution. O:-)
Yep, that is another thing to do, I think I posted something about it somewhere (maybe at github? Dunno. lol), as well as a "mark all read" button.
I honestly think we should add two things to final
1) When viewing the mention, clicking the link, it should mark it as read
2) Add a mark all as read button
Well... thinking about it, if it is marked as read when you visit the page, then you don't need the button. :D
If I get 30 likes for a post do they clear when I follow any one of those links, or just that one ? If just one then without an "all" button you have to do it 29 more times.
From your answer I think I understood something different from this one.
I thought you meant "click on "Mentions" (menu entry) => mark all as read, but probably it's not like that... :-[
I was thinking when you look at your list of mentions, if you click on the link that takes to to that post, it also marked it as "read" just like you clicked the tag icon. Not sure if that makes sense or not, just a thought.
Actually it's already working like that! :D
LOL .. well there you go ... fixed :P
/me will actually check things before I insert foot in mouth !
