2025 almost at an end and Elkarte is still here.
Not many themes but I would use the main one anyway.
All the menu items belong within profiles IMO
There's no working Tag nor Staff mods either.
These are the only mods stopping me from moving there from SMF.
My forum isn't live yet either.
On my test site recently I had 15 mods installed compared to 23 on SMF.
Tag like this@OldTimer ? This is default, so you don't need mods (here we called them addons) for it. What staff mods? I don't know them, we do have group and permission settings.

I mean tags as in keywords or hashtags so users can just click on a word and brings up everything with that word in ( search is probably better).
Staff as in The forum admin/ mods etc.
