And another round of updates has been applied

In this update you will find

- New quick topic feature
- New mark notifications as seen when you navigate to a topic that has new notifications (mentions, likes, quote, etc.).  This is similar in behavior to marking as read when you view a topic.  The idea is so you don't have to go to your notification tab and manually mark things as read/seen.
- Close a large number of old (very old) bug (really annoyance / inconsistency) issues that have been around for a long time
- New header layout for topic listing and topic view.  Its really all the same information but its no longer crammed into a single line.  You can see what I mean by going to the top of this page and look at the area just below the page links.
- Lots of other little bugs fixed here and there
- Added an Other Options button to Quick Reply and Quick Topic.  This will simply move you to the full post page which is where you can add attachments and several other things.  Often folks would be in the Quick Reply and not be able to figure out how to add attachments.  This new button just gives them a clue !

Big update of the site to the latest development code.  I know its been a long time but that's the way things roll sometimes:roller_coaster:

I'm not going to document all of the changes as there were to many to keep track of and they happened now and then when I had some time.

- Lots and lots of bug fixes:bug:
- Added Manticore search as an option.
- Improved Addon options such that you can now install an addon in the Addons directory (forum root) and have ElkArte discover/run them.  For example I have SimplePortal under Addons and it runs great and keeps all those source files out the the ElkArte directories.  Just view (js/css/templates/language) still need to go in the ElkArte space.
- I think the min is now 8.1 on the code.
- Many theme tweaks, mostly around tablet/phone sizes
- Lots and lots of code cleanup

Be on the lookout for bugs and fatal errors and report them.  The fatal errors generally occur due to new function type returns used in 8.0, easy to fix but not always easy to stumble across

May be it is time to package 2.0 beta 1?

I would think so as well ... its been on this site for over 2+ years at this point  I had wanted to get B1 out 18 months ago but then life stepped in ;)

No worries. Take your time @Spuds. Though almost 2 years or more has passed, post pandemic Covid-19 era is quite challenging to most peoples and countries, including ours.

Thanks for the update. We all understand, life comes and stuff gets pushed back, that's how things go.

I dId another push of updates/fixes to the site.  I think most of the changes were in the ACP but a few user facing as well.  For a test, and on of the user facing fixes, are the semantic (pretty) urls which I enabled on the site.  This feature had few issues which I hopefully addressed.  For one thing the page navigation links were not pretty (just used standard) when they should have been.

I do have this packaged, has to wait for B1.

I've done more work on the 2.0 install package as well as the upgrade package.  Need to do some more testing before I tag this and make them available for TESTING.

When make available, will there be an importer made to import 1.x to 2.0 Beta?

Yes, that is what the updater will do for the database   However the overall file / directory structure is so different that its going to take a bit manual effort to do the rest of the upgrade.  I need to do one of those myself so I can document some steps to follow.

Did not think was going to be an update package to 2.0 Beta.
Planned on doing clean install and hopefully import my database.

Thats a good plan since that is what will be needed :D

I did another site update today, nothing major but fixes more little issues.  I've been trolling the error log looking for undefined etc. issues.  Its funny how many bugs have been simple typos getting the CamelCase wrong, at least those are easy to fix !
