Feature Discussion / Image storage
Last post by sigourneyanderson -
Good day,

I don't care if images get uploaded to my web space area. My site is a journal-portfolio site and frankly if three people wind up uploading anything at all to my forum I'll consider the whole thing to be an unqualified success and I'll go out for a drink or something. What I'm saying is that my traffic is going to be very low, there's no general-interest stuff there.

Just tried adding an attached image to a post. No can do. Gives this error message:

There was a problem during the uploading of _Elk_11_display_poster_details.jpg.
There was a problem and your attachments could not be uploaded, Your attachment couldn't be saved. This might happen because it took too long to upload or the file is bigger than the server will allow.

Please consult your server administrator for more information.
The image in question was a 1280 x 960 JPG (141 kB). Saved straight from Photoshop, so not a dodgy image.

This is an on-going problem, at least in this board and it's subboards.

It appears to be related to either a full attachment directory and/or inability to create an additional attachment directory

Support / Re: Repeating calendar event?
Last post by tino -
You could create a modification to create it based upon a cron entry.

If not and you’re happy to talk directly with the database and create a batch of them you can do it with SQL.

Code: [Select]
 INSERT INTO elkarte_calendar_holidays ( event_date, title ) VALUES ( '2021-09-03', 'First Friday in September');

Support / Repeating calendar event?
Last post by lyx -
I'd like to create a repeating event (e.g. every first Friday of the month) in the calendar but it appears that there's no option for that. I thought maybe I could just upload an ical file of a repeating event or edit the files/database directly, does someone know if and how that is possible? If not, is there a way I could automate the creation of a new event every month within ElkArte? Many thanks, guys! :)

As a basic implementation, this will work:

Code: [Select]
@media screen and (min-width: 33.75em) {
.poster {
        display: flex;
        flex-direction: column;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.subsections {
        order: 4;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1:hover > a::after {
        display: none !important;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.subsections > ul {
        display: block !important;
        position: static;
        max-width: 90%;
        margin: 0 auto 4px;
        padding: 0 !important;
        text-align: center !important;
        border: solid #ddd;
        border-width: 1px 0;
        box-shadow: none;
        opacity: 1 !important;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.subsections > ul > li {
        width: 100%;
    }
    .poster .listlevel2 > ol > li {
        display: inline-block;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.poster_avatar {
        order: 1;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.icons {
        order: 2;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.membergroup {
        order: 3;
    }
    .poster .listlevel1.poster_online {
        order: 5;
    }
}

That is done as an override of this site's code, so should work if just added to custom.css. It will automatically revert to the standard display on small screens.

Technically, if you don't mind the positioning, you could tweak a bit the CSS to have them show, above the avatar, though.
Something along the lines:
Code: [Select]
.poster .menulevel2 {
    display: block !important;
    position: static;
    width: auto; /*or maybe 100%, not sure */
}
[code]

Would be the basics, then you have to tweak some other styles to make it work the way you want.

Hi and welcome to Elkarte!

As far as I know there is no way to display that info without and add-on or code edits. Elkarte shows all that information on mouse over a profile. From ACP you can choose where to display every single custom field.

This is what I have on my forum, and I prefer this behaviour since I find it much "cleaner" in terms of design, instead of showing all that stuff under every avatar.

Hi, Can anyone guide me how to display age, location, gender under member profile in every post in elkarte? Is this convenient for members and administrators?
Any advice? Thanks!

Support / Re: How to disable "Currently" section in user profiles?
Last post by Steeley -

And presto, the thing turns up as a setting which is honoured by the profile page. I'd add a screenshot but apparently a 9KB PNG file has a problem :(

This topic {board?} punts any image attachments for some reason..  that might be the first thing for spuds {or someone} to chase down  :-\

(Karvan hasn't been back since we started discussing his issue, but at least we got a couple of 'fixes' identified as a result..)
